Rahm kicks the season off with a commendable 15th place

Jon RahmHole in one on Thursday, top 15 on Sunday and two rounds under 70 shots. Jon Rahm’s debut in the new season was more than noteworthy. The young golfer from Barrika finished the Safeway Open in fifteenth place after shooting a 66, 71, 72 and 67 on the Silverado Resort & Spa in Napa, California. The Safeway Open was the first tournament of the season in the PGA Tour and Rham’s debut was very positive, closing this Sunday with an outstanding round of 67 shots which allowed him to move up various spots on the scoreboard. Jon’s game was efficient in all aspects, although quite possibly where he stood out the most was on the regulation greens, close to 80%, one of the best in the tournament.

Be that as it may, the highlight of the week, without a doubt, the hole in one on Thursday on the second hole of the season. Not only was it the first hole in one of the PGA Tour 2016/17, but also the first for Rahm in his career. No better way to celebrate than with a native California wine from Napa Valley. Jon, by the way, treated the media present in the Safeway Open to wine as well.

Rahm has finished with five top 15s in the last ten tournaments in the PGA Tour, an incredible rhythm that speaks to the solidity and consistency in the Spanish golfer’s game. Jon’s next event in the PGA Tour is in two weeks, the Sanderson Farms Championship in Mississippi.
